TWELVE-WAY FOUNDATION
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Commitment to Recovery

In order to fulfill our mission to help those who are addicted, the halfway house of Twelve-Way Foundation requires a personal commitment from each man who enters Twelve-Way Foundation. This commitment is made in the following three areas: financial responsibility, program responsibility and personal attitude.
View our Three Phase Programs:
Phase 1 Requirements-Phase 2 Requirements- Phase 3
Financial Responsibility
It is understood that any man requiring the services of a halfway house is in desperate need of assistance in managing his finances. He must not only secure employment that will not interfere with his program, but he must also learn to be responsible with the money he earns. His immediate and first priority must be to support the very program by which he hopes to recover from his addiction. A failure to meet this priority will undermine any further effort to recover in a halfway house setting and must be viewed as the need for some other kind of treatment. To become financially responsible each resident is required to follow general procedures.
- Week 1: Work for the ministry that is feeding and housing him.
- Week 2: Secure employment that will not interfere with his program.
- Week 3: Pay $170.00 for his first two weeks.
- Week 4: Pay $170.00 to get a week ahead.
- Week 5: Pay $85.00 to maintain support of the program and begin your savings.
Unwillingness ton the part of any resident to fulfill this initial commitment to financial responsibility will result in dismissal from the program. There can be no recovery without commitment at the most basic level. Those who seek to fulfill their commitment to financial responsibility will receive further assistance in learning how to budget their money and enjoy the freedom from debt and obligation.
Program Participation
Recovery from a dysfunctional lifestyle demands a personal commitment to spend time necessary to learn a brand new way of living. The various classes and meetings required by Twelve-Way Foundation are the minimal level of participation needed to recover in a halfway house setting. A lack of participation in any of the schedule meetings is viewed as unwillingness to commit to the program and, therefore, grounds for dismissal. Program participation include the following:
Academic Commitment
The Alpha Series is specifically designed to provide each resident with the ‘milk of the Word’ for spiritual growth. The classes that are offered are based upon the Gospel message concerning all that God has made us to be in Christ. A failure to recognize and accept this Gospel leaves us hopelessly lost in a dysfunctional lifestyle due to a poor self image. It is absolutely necessary to commit themselves to learning their new identity in Christ. The Gospel is the ‘power of God unto salvation for all who believe.’ The following criteria must be met in order to demonstrate academic commitment.
- Consistent attendance and participation in class.
- Purchase of workbooks.
- Completion of homework assignments.
- Participation in discussion groups.
- Personal Commitment
Acceptance into Phase 2 of the program places more responsibility on the resident to manage his own free time. To stay focused on learning and applying the program to our everyday life in the following visitation policy will be observed.
- Visitation on weekends from 10 am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Only family members are allowed to visit.
- Sponsor may visit 8am to 10pm any day as long as it does not interfere with your meetings and classes.
- Resident must sign out when leaving facility.
- Staff determines when a person is elgible for passes after resident moves to Phase 2
- Passes are 24 hours on Phase 2 and from m8pm Friday to 5pm Sunday on Phase 3.
- Leave of absence may be taken only in case of a death in the family or approved reason by director.
Personal Attitude
Recovery from a dysfunctional lifestyle demands a personal commitment to maintaining a positive personal attitude. Those who enjoy the freedom from addiction have a positive attitude toward themselves and their circumstances. There are two main ways to determine the personal attitude necessary for recovery.
- Social interaction with peers and staff. (I.E. isolation vs. relational ministry)
- Content of speech. (I.E. negative vs. positive) for the welfare of each resident, their personal attitude will be constantly monitored and challenged.
- True recovery requires a fundamental change in the many attitudes and belief systems that led to our dysfunctional behavior is obvious and is, therefore, to be expected rather than avoided in this program.
